Tips for Downloading Instagram Content
Save Stories before they expire
Instagram Stories disappear after 24 hours with no way to get them back. If you spot something worth saving, download it right away. Highlights are the exception β those stick around permanently and can be downloaded any time you need them.
Downloading from Highlights
Highlight videos have permanent URLs, unlike regular Stories. Tap the Highlight, then use the three-dot menu to copy the link. These never expire, so there's no urgency β you can grab them whenever it's convenient for you.
Carousel posts with mixed media
When a carousel has both photos and videos, Videolyti only downloads the video portions. You'll need to screenshot the photo slides separately. For video-only carousels, copy each individual video link and download them one at a time.
Getting the right URL from the app
In the Instagram app, tap the three dots on any post and choose Copy Link. For Stories, tap the three dots while you're viewing the Story. Web URLs from instagram.com/p/... work just as well β paste either format into Videolyti and it handles the rest.
Reels vs regular video posts
Reels and regular video posts use different infrastructure under the hood, but Videolyti handles both identically. You don't need to figure out which type it is β just paste the link and download, and it takes care of the rest.
Common Instagram Download Issues
"Content not available" error
The account is probably set to private. Instagram requires authentication to view private content, which Videolyti doesn't support. Only public profiles and posts are downloadable. Ask the account owner to make their content public.
Story link does not work
Stories only live for 24 hours. If you copied the link yesterday and are trying to download today, the content is already gone. Next time, download Stories right when you find them β don't wait for later.
Low quality download
Instagram compresses everything it stores. If the creator uploaded a low-resolution video, that's what you'll get. Instagram also hard-caps all content at 1080p max, so that's the ceiling regardless of the original quality.
Carousel URL downloads wrong video
Some carousel URLs default to the first item in the post. To grab a specific video, navigate to that exact slide in Instagram, copy the link from that view, then paste it into Videolyti. That ensures you get the right one.
Login wall appears on the URL
Instagram sometimes shows a login prompt when web visitors open a link. This doesn't affect Videolyti at all β we process the URL on our servers without needing any Instagram login on our end.
