Shorts have a unique URL structure β /shorts/VIDEO_ID instead of the usual /watch?v=. No problem β just copy the full URL from your browser address bar and paste it into Videolyti. It handles Shorts the same as regular videos, including transcription support.
Long videos work too
Lectures, full movies, and long podcasts all process just fine. Longer videos will naturally take a bit more time to download, so keep that in mind if you're grabbing a two-hour documentary. AI transcription works on videos of any length.
Playlist handling
Videolyti processes one video at a time, so for playlists you'll need to copy each individual video URL separately. Pasting the playlist URL directly won't work β go to the specific video and copy that URL instead.
Age-restricted content
Some YouTube videos require a sign-in to watch. Videolyti can often bypass this since it accesses public video data server-side, but heavily restricted content may still fail. Try using the direct video URL rather than a share link.

Common YouTube Download Issues
"Video unavailable" error
The video might be private, age-restricted, deleted, or a Premiere that hasn't gone live yet. Check if it plays normally on YouTube first. If it requires a sign-in to watch there, chances are it won't be downloadable either.
Audio missing from download
Occasionally YouTube serves separate audio and video streams that don't merge correctly. A simple fix is to re-download at a slightly lower quality setting β that usually gets the streams to merge up properly.
4K not available
Not every video on YouTube is uploaded in 4K. If the creator originally uploaded at 1080p, that's the maximum quality available β Videolyti can't create resolution that wasn't there to begin with. Check the source video quality on YouTube first.
Too many requests error
YouTube rate-limits downloads from any IP address. If you've been downloading a bunch of videos back to back, wait 10 to 15 minutes before trying again. Spreading your downloads out over time avoids this issue entirely.
Live stream download fails
You can't download a live stream while it's still broadcasting. Wait until the stream ends and the recording shows up on the channel β that usually happens within an hour of the stream finishing.
